How to Cook Bratwurst

Bratwurst refers to a sausage that contains meat, which is usually veal, beef, and pork. The sausage is commonly cooked in beer or it is grilled.

Bratwurst in Beer

This luscious and delightful dish serves four individuals. The ingredients include four fully cooked bratwurst, a cup of beer, a tablespoon of cornstarch, a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, a teaspoon of sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon dried minced garlic.

In addition to these ingredients, you will use a teaspoon of Tabasco sauce, a small can of sauerkraut, and four toasted frankfurter buns.

Mix Tabasco sauce, garlic, sugar, cornstarch, Worcestershire sauce, and beer in a microwaveable dish. Place the dish in a microwave and set to high. Cook for six minutes. Add the sauerkraut and cover the dish.

Change the setting to medium-high. Return to microwave and cook for 10 minutes.

Transfer the sausages to a clean plate. Heat the buns in the microwave for a minute. Put the sausages in the buns and serve immediately.

Bratwurst Casserole

If you are planning to serve this dish, you need two pounds of bratwurst, three potatoes cut into quarter, an onion, a small can cream of mushroom soup, ½ can water and ½ can milk.

Slice the sausages into several portions. Fry the sausages and remove the oil. Pour ½ teaspoon of vegetable oil into a casserole and place the potatoes, onions, and sausages.

Pour the milk, water, and cream of mushroom soup into the casserole. Season with pepper and salt. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook for one and a half hours.

Bratwurst and Cabbage

The ingredients for this special nutritious entrée are two pounds of bratwurst sausage, four medium size potatoes, two medium size carrots, a small onion, and ½ head medium cabbage.

Fry the sausage in a skillet for five minutes on each side. Drain excess oil and set aside. Peel and slice the carrots, potatoes, and onion. Put the sliced vegetables in a large pot. Fill the pot with water or until the vegetables are covered.

Top the vegetables with the sausage and sliced cabbage. Cover the pot and place over medium fire. Cook the dish for 30 minutes to 40 minutes. Transfer the dish to a bowl and serve with four cups of rice.
