Even the most novice kitchen cooks will find cooking pepper a breeze as it can be added to various recipes and meals.

One of the easiest recipes is pepper steak.

Ingredients for Pepper Steak

  • Beef steak (any type, 1 in. thick)
  • Bell pepper (at least 3 pieces)
  • 1 hot pepper
  • 2 yellow onions (sliced)
  • Olive oil (3 tbsp
  • Mushrooms (1 lb)
  • Flour (1 tbsp)
  • Red wine (3 tbsp)
  • Soup base (optional)


Cut the steaks along the grain. Make the cuts very thin. Put some butter on the skillet and add some oil. Turn the heat to medium and sauté the onions until the corners turn brown. Now add the garlic and peppers.

Wait until the garlic appears somewhat roasted and then mix it with the oil. Continue cooking pepper steak by putting these vegetables in a separate dish.

Turn the heat to high and add the steaks. Add the mushrooms and cook until the meat is tender. Put the steak with the other vegetables. Now add the soup base and wine to the pan. Throw in some flour too.

Turn the heat to low. Let it simmer for 10 minutes. If the gravy is too thick, sprinkle in some water; if too thin, add flour. Pour this over the steaks. Heat again if needed. Top it off with more peppers.


After cooking pepper steak you are now ready to serve. This meal can be eaten with rice or some noodles. You can also combine it with some sandwiches. You can add some soy sauce to it.

Ingredients for Vegetable Rice with Peppers

  • Peppers (red, green, and yellow, at least 1 each)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • Green beans (50g)
  • Peas (frozen 50g)
  • 5 mushrooms (medium)
  • Turmeric (2 tsp)
  • White rice
  • Stock or chicken cube
  • Cooking oil (1 tbsp)


Cut off the pepper stalks. Remove the ends from the carrots and dice the beans and peas. Put some oil in the pan and heat it.

Place the carrots, mushrooms, and beans in the pan. Add the peas too. Cook for 4 minutes. Continue cooking pepper vegetable rice by adding the white rice. Cook it for another 60 seconds.

Put the stock cube in 500ml of water. Allow it to dissolve. Add this to the rice. Put the turmeric in also. Let it boil. Change the setting to low.

Cover the pan and let it simmer for 8 minutes. Take off the lid but let it simmer for another 5 minutes. When the water has dissipated, you can serve it.

Different Pepper Types

Green peppers are picked prior to maturity and are quite mild. Black peppers are the ones that are about to turn red. They are very flavorful. White pepper is also mild. Red pepper, of course, is very spicy.
